Frequently Asked Questions

How do you find my property?

We use GPS to navigate our aircraft to your property. If you have GPS coordinates, we can map your property and send you back an image to confirm that we have the right location. If you have an address, we can also work with that.

Where do you fly?

Currently, Blue Earth Imaging covers Southern California and Arizona. See our coverage map.

Does bad weather restrict flying?

We pay careful attention to the weather.  Typically we try to fly on clear days, but sometimes that isn't possible.  We will delay a flight for rain, excessive wind or excessive temperatures.  If certain types of clouds are predicted, we may also delay a flight.

Do I own the photographs?

Blue Earth Imaging retains copyright to all imagery. For specific licensing information, please contact a sales representative.

Why not use satellite imagery?

Presidential Decision Directive 23 sets limits on the resolution that commercial satellites can collect imagery at 1/2 meter. Aerial photography is not subject to the limit, so we can deliver imagery with up to five times the resolution. Additionally, the only domestic provider of satellite imagery quotes standard delivery times of 60-150 days and requires a minimum order of 12,000 acres for any new request.

How detailed is the aerial imagery?

Blue Earth Imaging typically collects imagery at 1/8th meter (5 inch) or 1/4th meter (10 inch) resolution. That means that the smallest feature that can be identified in the image must be at least that big. We are capable of collecting imagery at resolutions as high as 1/64th meter (that's less than an inch!) upon request. Please talk to a sales representative, or visit this link, for more information.

What is geo-referencing?

Geo-referencing is the process of aligning aerial imagery to features on the ground with known positions.  This allows the exact GPS position of any feature in an image to be determined precisely.  If you have a hand held GPS receiver, these coordinates can be downloaded to the receiver enabling you to locate them in the field.

Where Can I Find Your Privacy Policy?

Blue Earth Imaging respects your privacy and would never sell or distribute any information that you submit to us through this website.  For more information, please feel free to examine our privacy policy here.
